Eoh

Things have been very busy of late, hence the lack of new material here. This is partly because of the run up to my PhD Viva Voce and the subsequent celebrations of becoming a bone fide Doctor of Creative Writing. Yay me! I thought I’d take a bit of a break from writing, but soon as I had that thought, I had some terrific ideas and… in the last three weeks since the viva, I’ve written six episodes of a TV sci-fi drama, three episodes of a Sci-fi comedy, expanded a play from a ten minute sketch to a 90 minute play and started writing a book of poetry based on the Anglo Saxon rune poems. The poetry is *based* on, rather than reinterpreations of the rune poems. I’ve take their meanings and writing a short piece with those in mind, but they do not illustrate them. Most are fairly oblique in that they are puzzles of sorts and you will not beleive how difficult it was not to mention the teletubbies for the ‘eoh’ rune. Anyway…I’ve so far written eleven of thirty or so…

Eoh

It pulled against the gravity, so
I wrapped the twine around
my fist. It struggled to free
itself from its beaming flesh-

anchor; its will unbowed,
its joie de vivre infectious,
but when clouds blotted
the sky, and colours

wizened, paling the latex globe,
the thought came to me, sudden
and sullen; a sombre maxim,
inevitable, “sooner or later

you’re going to have let go.”
